Iraq's Council of Representatives will vote on Thursday on nominees for the vacant ministries in Ali al-Zaidi's cabinet, a step toward completing the government more than five months after it received a vote of confidence.

On Thursday, the Iraqi House of Representatives will vote on the candidates for the vacant ministries of Ali Al-Zaidi's cabinet; A measure to complete the government, which is carried out after more than five months have passed since the vote of confidence in the cabinet.

Ambassador Arjan-International News Group: Iraqi political parties and factions have reached an agreement with Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to hold a parliamentary session on Thursday. In this meeting, after the finalization of the candidates for the vacant ministries, there will be a vote on the completion of the cabinet.

More than five months have passed since the vote of confidence in the Al-Zaidi government, the completion of the cabinet composition was delayed due to the differences of political currents over the division of ministries and the selection of candidates.

Karim Alivi, a member of the Iraqi parliament from the Shia coordination framework coalition, announced that after the meeting of this coalition with Al-Zaidi and consultation with other factions and parties, the meeting on Thursday has been finalized to advance the process of forming the cabinet.

According to Alivi, in this meeting, in addition to examining the composition of the cabinet, the representatives will also vote on the selection of four deputy prime ministers. The candidates for these positions have been determined after the agreement and consensus between the Prime Minister and the relevant political factions.

These four people are Leith Al-Khazali, the brother of Qais Al-Khazali, the leader of the Asaib Ahl Haq movement; Mohammad Tamim, former Minister of Planning; Mohsen Al-Mandlawi, the head of Iraq's Al-Asas coalition; and Faris al-Brifkani, the former head of the Iraqi Health and Environment Commission.

Alivi announced the nominated candidates for vacant ministries as follows:

Safa Al-Kanani for the Ministry of Youth and Sports;

Yasser al-Maliki for the Ministry of Interior;

Haider Baha for the Ministry of Higher Education;

Yasin Al-Eithawi for the Ministry of Culture;

Mohammad Ali Al-Naimi for the Ministry of Planning;

Ali Dakhli for the Ministry of Tourism;

Mohammad Sahib Al Daraji for the Ministry of Digital Technology.

Alivi said that Al-Zaidi and all political currents have agreed with these names and it is expected that they will be approved in Thursday's meeting. He also stated that the Prime Minister met the candidates separately in the past days before finalizing the agreement.

Salah Al-Kabisi, one of the senior figures of the Iraqi ruling coalition, considered holding a meeting and voting on the remaining members of the cabinet as an important step to end the political deadlock and improve the performance of the government. According to him, completing the cabinet can increase the government's ability to fulfill its responsibilities; Especially, it is necessary to unify political positions and reduce the differences between currents.

Al-Kabisi added that the agreement reached shows that the understanding between the political forces is important and it should be turned into practical measures in the parliament so that the process of forming the government ends and the remaining issues are resolved.

In the middle of last May, the Iraqi House of Representatives confirmed the qualifications of 14 of the 23 candidates of the Al-Zaidi cabinet. Determining the duties of 9 other ministries was still incomplete due to the disagreement over the proposed options and how to divide the ministries among political parties and currents.
