Sumo Didi is the story of a woman named Hetal who finds her calling in the unconventional world of sumo wrestling and embarks on a journey that challenges perceptions of women, their bodies and their abilities.

Anubha Fatehpuriya, Nitesh Pandey, Raghav Dhir and Meenal Kapoor also star in the film, which was shot in Japan, Kolkata and Mumbai.

This Hindi-language film has traveled to prestigious international film festivals, including the Tokyo International Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Director Rohatgi says, “Sumo Didi is an inspiring story of grace, resilience and rising from the depths of despair. "A young woman from a conservative Marwari family defies all odds, turns her perceived weakness into strength and shatters the glass ceiling. What drew me to Hetal's story was her courage in challenging patriarchy, social pressure, gender bias and the body politic.

“From the narrow streets of Calcutta to the quiet countryside of Japan, his journey is intimate and cinematic. Shreyam has given everything - physically and emotionally - to bring Hetal's story to life and I am thankful to Jio Studios, Fresh Lime Films, MA+TH Entertainment Network and Zee 5 for believing in it. Basically, our film is not just about Hetal becoming a successful sumo wrestler. It's about reclaiming her space, her body and her power." "I think most of us have been told at some point that we're too different, that we need to change something about ourselves, or that we're not meant to have a special dream," Hetal Dev added. My journey in sumo wrestling has had its share of such moments, but it has also taught me to trust myself and keep moving forward.

"What makes Sumo Didi special is that it goes beyond sports and explores what it means to stand by your choices when the world expects you to be someone else. I am grateful that Zee 5Global is bringing this story to the audience. I hope it inspires people to accept who they are and pursue what is important to them."
