RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Argentina's Cinema Pasto turned on Maria Alche's upcoming film I Love You and Everything Looks Beautiful Today. The film is produced by Brazil's Banner Bubbles project along with Spain's Elastica Films, Germany's Pandora Films and France's Monkey Films.

"I Love You and Today Everything Looks Beautiful" is set between the 1950s and 1960s and follows the lives of Josefina and Jorge after the death of their parents. The orphaned children are taken in by their irreverent Aunt Bertha and start a new life in the big city in a house frequented by intellectuals and all kinds of political conspiracies. Alche said in his director's statement that the film is "based on the creation of a group of strong, complex and magnetic characters who survive thanks to a mystical and everyday quality: faith in life and the ability to laugh at tragedy." Josefina feels an unlikely empathy for her in her personal orphanhood. The director added: "In today's Argentina, which is overshadowed by the rise of the extreme right wing that shamelessly evokes the days of military rule, the historical orphans who adopted her mother, Eva Perón, I am interested in recovering the past, when the country still had a productive matrix and there was hope for the future." "My collaboration with Pasto Cinema's Barbara Francisco, who I met at the EAVE Puentes workshop in 2013, and with director Maria Alche, goes back over a decade," Leite tells Variety. Maria makes unique films and I am fascinated by her direction of actors and the dreamlike dimension that permeates reality in her work.

"When I was sent the script for 'I Love You and Everything Looks Beautiful Today,' I discovered something even more valuable in my reading, something that moved me from beginning to end," he adds. "I Love You" is a period movie, yet it is very relevant to the world we live in today.

Francisco notes how a large part of the film's team, including Louvart and Serpa, "have a close and enduring bond since working together on 'A Sunken Family.'" "This bond is rooted in a shared vision of the world and a shared approach to filmmaking.
