Gears of War: E-Day Mod Adds Halo, Star Wars and Warhammer 40000 Skins

The Gears of War: E-Day mod lets players customize their Gears squad with options ranging from Halo Spartans to Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines.

The Gears of War: E-Day mod allows players to customize their Gears team with options for everything from Halo Spartans to Space Marines from Warhammer 40,000.

Incursion, from game designer Tom Whaley, aka @Unreal_Dev on X/Twitter, adds a skin selector to E-Day that lets you put Marcus, Tails, Megs, and Lucas in different skins. In addition to the Halo and Warhammer options, there are Clone Troopers from Star Wars and even some in-universe appropriate Gears skins. You simply select skins from the new option in the main menu or from the in-game pause menu.

What would a #Halo made by The Coalition look like?

The Incursion mod simplifies what would normally be a multi-mode setup for this sort of thing. Once you have it installed, you can flip between skins at your leisure without having to manually switch files or reinstall different character modes. While there are few limitations, you will of course need a copy of Gears of War: E-Day to run the Incursion mod pack. Check out the Nexus Mods page for installation instructions.

Last week, Reese Elliott, head of marketing analytics at Alinea Analytics, reported that E-Day sold about 230,000 copies in its first week, which it described as a soft start. These unofficial figures, not supported by data provided by Microsoft, point to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service cannibalizing sales.

Earlier this month, the Alliance boss promised that the next Gears game wouldn't take as long to make, responding to reports that studio staff were worried they could lose their jobs amid ongoing cuts at Xbox. Future games will likely see the return of meat shields and chainsaw duels, features that were conspicuously absent from Gears of War: E-Day at launch. This is a direct result of the developers building the game from scratch, rather than using previous games in the series as a base.
