Apple to Fix iPhone Air Flaws With Major Changes in Next Generation
Reports suggest Apple plans to launch the iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027 with dual cameras, an A20 Pro chip, a larger battery, and a vapor chamber cooling system. The model is expected to address some limitations of Apple's first-generation slim phone.
Apple is reportedly planning to launch the iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027 with dual cameras, an A20 Pro chip, a larger battery, and a vapor chamber cooling system. This model is supposed to overcome some of the limitations of the first generation of Apple's slim phone.
Tina Mazdaki - Reports indicate that the sales of the first generation iPhone Air were lower than Apple expected. The company has delayed the launch of the second generation indefinitely due to weaker sales. However, the report was later corrected and it was revealed that Apple is not planning to completely cancel the project and the development of the iPhone Air 2 is still going on.
One of the possible changes of the iPhone Air 2 is the addition of a second camera to the back panel. The camera will likely be ultra-wide, not telephoto, so users can capture images with a wider field of view in addition to the main camera.
It is also said that this phone will be equipped with the A20 Pro chip, which will replace the A19 Pro in the current model. This processor is expected to be produced with 2nm manufacturing technology and have higher performance and lower energy consumption. The use of multi-chip packaging technology at the wafer level, to integrate the main chip and DRAM memory, is one of its other possible capabilities.
Bigger battery and new cooling system
According to information released from the supply chain, the iPhone Air 2 may have a 3500 mAh battery. The battery capacity of the first generation is 3149 mAh, so the possible increase will be more than 10%. A lower-power chip can also help improve charging, though the actual amount depends on a variety of factors.
Reports also suggest the possibility of using a vapor chamber cooling system. Apple has already used this technology in the iPhone 17 Pro. This system can dissipate heat better and help maintain the performance of the phone while running heavy applications.
Initially, this phone was expected to be introduced in September 2026 and at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro. But Apple's current plan is to release it in the spring of 2027 and at the same time as the standard iPhone 18. However, Apple has yet to confirm the specifications and the final launch time of the device and the available information is still based on reports and leaks.
