Record-breaking scrapping of used cars in September
The director of the transportation fleet modernization and scrapping of used cars announced the record breaking scrapping of used cars in Shahrivar. The post record-breaking scrapping of used cars in Shahrivar appeared for the first time in Safir Arjan.
According to Ambassador Arjan, Mohammad Sadegh Hatami, Director of Transport Fleet Renewal and Scrapping of Used Cars, while explaining the process of scrapping used cars in the country, announced the significant increase in scrapping statistics in recent months and announced that this trend has increased once again after the amendment of the executive regulations of Article 10 of the Automobile Industry Organization Law.
Referring to the car scrapping performance in the last two decades, Hatami said: since 1385, nearly 2,720,000 cars have been scrapped in the country, of which about 700,000 cars, equivalent to 25% of the total, are related to the period that started in 1401.
He stated that in recent years there has been a significant jump in the scrapping of used cars, and added: In 1403, about 349 thousand cars were scrapped and in 1404, about 205 thousand cars were scrapped. Also, from the beginning of this year until the time of this interview - October 22 - nearly 85 thousand cars have been scrapped.
The director of the transportation fleet modernization and scrapping of used cars continued: Despite the closures and conditions that prevailed in the country in recent months and caused a stagnation in this process, in September we managed to scrap about 28,000 cars. Statistics that indicate a record-breaking monthly car scrapping performance in the last 20 months.
Referring to the increase in the speed of scrapping cars, he said: the daily scrapping rate, which at one point reached about 349 cars, has now increased to nearly 1,400 cars a day. We hope that with the continuation of this process, the goal of scrapping 250,000 cars this year will be achieved, and next year we will be able to approach the goal predicted in the 7th Development Plan, that is, the annual scrapping of 500,000 cars.
Hatami went on to say that one of the reasons for not achieving the goals of car scrapping in the past years is the contradiction of some provisions of the executive regulation of Article 10 with the law on organizing the car industry and said: In the law, for every four cars produced, one car was planned to be scrapped; But in the executive regulation approved in 1402, this ratio was changed to one scrapping machine for every 12 cars.
He explained: This difference in coefficients caused the requirement of abortion not to be implemented according to the law. For example, if the car production reached 1,200,000 units, based on the ratio of 1 to 12, the scrapping requirement was about 100,000 units; While implementing a one-to-four ratio would have required more scrapping.
The director of the transportation fleet renewal and scrapping of used cars added: the accumulation of scrapping certificates, the lack of sufficient places of consumption for these certificates and the full implementation of legal requirements were among the factors that affected the scrapping process in the past years.
Referring to the amendment of Article 10 of the executive regulation, Hatami said: By amending this regulation and adapting it to the law, the ratio of one scrapped vehicle for every four manufactured vehicles was once again the basis for implementation. The revised regulation, which was approved on August 12, 1405, came into effect on September 12, and after that, the performance record of the last 20 months was broken in September.
He expressed his hope that the increasing process of scrapping used cars will continue in October and the number of scrapped cars will exceed 35,000 in this month.
