Elgato already dominates the hardware market for creators using powerful desktop PCs, and now it's turning its attention to creators on the go with its first wireless microphone. The $99.99 Wave Go clips onto your clothes like DJI's Mic Mini with hands-free recording for vlogging and content creation.
The Wave Go is small, about the size of an AirPod, so it disappears into the camera and weighs just seven grams. Despite its small size, the Elgato promises "broadcast-quality" sound with a capacitor capsule that supports EQ, auto-gain and noise cancellation.
The Wave Go clips onto clothing with a clip and magnetic plate, and a button lets you turn the mic on or mute. You can also double press the button to launch the camera app on your phone.

Elgato has also built a smart handle for the WaveGo, a portable accessory that turns it into a full-sized interview microphone. The Wave Go simply sits on top of the Smart Handle, which features an on/off and mute button with LED indicators for power on, mute, and pairing status. The handle also doubles as a charger for the Wave Go, adding five more charges, giving you a total of 48 hours at around eight hours per charge. You can also fast charge in 10 minutes to get about an hour of recording time.
The USB-C receiver is built for phones, so it works with iPhones, Android devices, and iPads. It connects to the microphone via a 2.4GHz wireless signal, so there's no Bluetooth here, and the latency is around 24ms or less. The Smart Handle, microphone, and USB-C receiver can all be secured inside the included case, but it doesn't have an integrated battery case, so the Smart Handle is the primary way to charge on the go.

Elgato has also created a Wave Go mobile app that lets you control live sound levels, enable noise reduction, change auto level and check battery status. You can even use the Wave Go on a desktop computer with Elgato's Wave Link 3.0 software, simply by plugging the receiver into a USB-C port.
The Wave Go is available today for $99.99 (€99.99 / £99.99), and if you want to record a second voice, a second microphone transmitter is available for $29.99.
