Novak estimates the global diesel fuel shortage at a quarter of the market
The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia said: The understanding between the presidents of Russia and the United States regarding the supply of diesel will help to balance the world market to some extent.
Moscow, October 16. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Minister Alexander Novak said at the meeting of the Russian Energy Week in 2026: "The international market has experienced a shortage of diesel fuel by about 25%."
Novak said: "The market is currently experiencing a very large deficit. We estimate the deficit to be around 25 percent of global trade. This is primarily due to the inability to deliver to international markets from the Persian Gulf countries. Russia also banned exports from July in order to saturate its domestic market with diesel fuel."
The deputy prime minister said that the understanding between the presidents of Russia and the United States on the supply of diesel fuel will make it possible to rebalance the world market to some extent. He noted: Russia is still one of the key players in the global diesel market. "We traditionally supplied about 10 percent of international trade," Novak said. He added: Russia's diesel fuel export may increase to 3.5 million tons per month by the end of this year.
