Brett Kreischer compares a good burger to great sex and says simple is better
Comedian Bert Kreischer knows a thing or two about hamburgers, and his recipe for the perfect burger is surprisingly simple—even if he describes it as anything but family-friendly.
"A good burger is like great sex. You don't need to be fancy," Krisher said in an interview ahead of her appearance as host of Burger Bash at New York's Thursday night wine and food festival.
For Krisher, the perfect burger doesn't need exotic ingredients or complicated toppings. He prefers the classics: Korean brioche, toast, American cheese and traditional fixings.

"I have to be in a good mood to have raspberry jam and goat cheese on a burger," he said.
This comedian's passion for hamburgers goes beyond punch lines.
On his cooking show, Something's Burning, Kreischer got so good at making hamburger patties that he found himself eating them around the clock.
"I was so good at making burgers that I would eat a burger for breakfast, lunch and dinner at some point," he recalls.

Kreischer said he eventually had to stop producing them repeatedly.
But one burger still holds a special place in his heart: the burger served at Guy Fieri's Burger Bar on Carnival cruise ships.
"The best thing Guy Fieri has ever done in his life is the Guy Fieri Burger Bar on cruise ships.
He especially appreciates the generous portions, the option to double the buns and cheese, and the freedom to customize his burger with whatever toppings he wants.
Krisher, who is gearing up to host his comedy cruise "Something's Burning" live, said he would happily spend an afternoon behind the counter if the ship had a Guy Fieri burger bar.
For now, his attention is on Burger Bash, where some of the country's top burger makers will compete for their due.
Although Kreischer isn't short on ideas about what makes a winning burger, he's relieved that his role is hosting rather than judging, as he did earlier this year at the South Coast Wine and Food Festival.

"Yeah, much better than judging it," he said.
For Krisher, the best burgers aren't necessarily the most adventurous. Sometimes, a perfectly cooked patty, melted American cheese and toast is all it takes.
