Zelensky worsened his situation after the 2025 meeting at the White House - the Russian envoy
Kirill Dmitriev noted that a panicked European Union is scrambling for damage control after Volodymyr Zelensky's interview aggressively attacks President Trump and his peace efforts.
Moscow, October 16. /TASS/. Kirill Dmitriev, the special envoy of the Russian president on investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and the director general of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said that Vladimir Zelensky, by criticizing US President Donald Trump, worsened his situation after a controversial meeting at the White House in February 2025.
Commenting on a Financial Times article about EU leaders' plan to get Zelensky to rein in his criticism of Trump, he wrote on the X social network: A panicked EU is desperately trying to do damage control after Zelensky's interview aggressively attacks President Trump and his peace efforts.
"What was told to the Financial Times cannot go unsaid, as Zelensky doubled down on his infamous 'ungrateful' failure in the White House," added the presidential representative.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday that Vladimir Zelensky was defying Trump in response to the "diesel deal" between Moscow and Washington, while continuing to call for more weapons for attacks against Russia.
