Nurses do not need a repeat celebration / What happens to unpaid claims?
The chairman of Urmia and Selmas nursing system criticized the holding of the Nurses' Day ceremony without the effective participation of the representatives of the nursing community and the presence of provincial decision-makers, and emphasized that the real honoring of nurses should be accompanied by addressing their livelihood problems, job security and unpaid claims.
According to Ambassador Arjan, Masoud Magdar, the head of the board of directors of Urmia and Selmas nursing system, strongly criticized the way the Nurses' Day ceremony was held at the West Azerbaijan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services and stated: In a situation where nurses are facing the most difficult working conditions, livelihood problems, meager salaries and benefits, and unpaid claims, the Nurses' Day ceremony was expected to become an opportunity to reflect the bitter realities of life and work of this group in the presence of senior officials of the province.
He added: The presence of the respected representative of the Supreme Leader in the province, the governor, representatives of the Islamic Council, managers of the executive bodies and reporters of the provincial media could provide a suitable basis for directly raising the problems of nurses and following up on their demands.
Referring to the holding of Nurses' Day ceremonies in other universities of medical sciences in the country, even in small cities, Meghrad said: "The examination of the ceremonies held in other provinces shows that in many cases, provincial and city officials were prominently present and this opportunity was used to honor nurses and pay attention to their issues." But unfortunately, in West Azerbaijan, we have witnessed the repetition of clichéd programs and the holding of ineffective ceremonies.
He continued: This year, the West Azerbaijan University of Medical Sciences practically excluded the nursing system organization from the process of holding the ceremony. In such a way that even the logo of this organization was not used in the posters, invitations and welcome banners. Meanwhile, it was expected that the legal and professional status of the nursing system would be taken into account in such a ceremony and the instructions of the Ministry of Health would be followed properly.
Criticizing the absence of senior provincial and national officials, the chairman of the board of directors of Urmia and Selmas nursing system stated: Except for the representative of Sepah Bank, there was no effective presence of military and national officials of the province in this ceremony. An issue that raises serious questions about the goals, quality, and achievements of such a program, and a more serious question is whether Mr. Governor is not proud to be present at the Nurse's Day ceremony, or have university officials refused to invite him and other provincial officials?!
In the end, Meghrad emphasized: A ceremony that does not have any tangible outcome for nurses, neither solves any of their problems, nor takes a step towards improving their livelihood and job status. If the financial resources of the university are to be spent on holding such programs, it is better to allocate a part of these resources to reduce the problems of nurses and improve their working conditions.
He pointed out: Celebrating Nurse's Day without the effective presence of decision-makers, without the real participation of representatives of the nursing community, and without a plan to follow up on demands, is nothing more than solving an administrative task. Nurse's Day is a day of true celebration of nurses; Not an opportunity to hold ceremonial events and present unachieved performance reports. Nurses do not need repeated slogans and celebrations; They need justice, respect, job security and honorable livelihood.
