Update: Joey Behar is still recovering from the shoulder injury that kept him out since earlier this month and is expected to return to the series next week.

The long-time member of the Wave was expected to sit at the table this week.

In a statement from Behar, read by moderator Whoopi Goldberg at the top of today's episode, she said, "Thank you to everyone who asked about my recovery. If I was still 21, I'd be back the next day, but since I'm an old bat, it's going to take a while to heal. Earlier, Oct. 7: Joy Behar missed her birthday episode of ABC's The View today as she continues to recover from a shoulder injury that kept her out of the show last week.

Host Whoopi Goldberg noted Behar's absence at the beginning of Today's show, saying that Behar, who turns 84 today, sent a message noting that "despite sharing a birthday with Vladimir Putin, she doesn't have the Russian plague." Goldberg added that Behar is "still recovering from his dislocated shoulder." So what we're saying is: Get well soon so we can celebrate you here again."

Goldberg also spilled the beans last night at the Behind the Table podcast live event at the New York City Winery venue.

Bahar's injury was revealed last week when panelist Sonny Hastin explained Bahar's absence on Thursday's live episode. "Our dear friend Joy dislocated her shoulder," said Hastin, who filled in as moderator Thursday because Bahar and Goldberg were absent while filming the Netflix movie Women Like Us.

Bahar, who collapsed at ABC's The View studio building in New York last week after catching a heel and falling on his shoulder, is expected to return to the show next week.

Today's episode of The View was hosted by Goldberg, Hastin, Sarah Hines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Anna Navarro.

Earlier today, The View posted a happy spring birthday message on the show's Instagram page:

Behar previously missed several episodes of The View in 2025 after breaking her toe. He then explained to the audience that an iPad had fallen on his leg. "I wouldn't recommend putting anything on your toes," he joked.

I miss Joey Bahar, his absence is quite noticeable. I hope to see him on the View soon. His quick wit and charming sarcasm make The View an enjoyable experience. Get well soon, joy!!!

He blamed Trump for his shoulder, right?
