Boosting Productivity and Standardization Paves the Way for Economic Growth

Hamidreza Haji Babaei, at the World Standards Day ceremony, said standardization is essential for optimal resource management and enhancing the competitiveness of Iranian products.

According to reporter Mehr Hamidreza Hajibabaei, in the celebration of World Standards Day, he considered standardization as one of the requirements for the development of societies and stated: The standard is a standard for evaluating quality in various fields of life, production and social activities, and it plays an essential role in creating public trust.

Referring to the responsibility of the National Standard Organization in guaranteeing the quality of products and services, he added: In addition to creating confidence among consumers, this organization plays an important role in improving the country's competitiveness and strengthening the position of Iranian products in international markets.

Stating that competition in global markets is dependent on having technical knowledge, advanced equipment and modern technologies, the vice president of the parliament clarified: achieving sustainable development requires continuous improvement of the quality of goods and services and compliance of production processes with the required standards.

Referring to the importance of managing water resources, energy and the environment, Hajibabaei listed these areas as the determining factors in the country's economic progress and said: reforming the consumption pattern and improving energy production processes, along with the optimal use of water resources, can have significant effects on economic growth and national development.

He added: Optimizing consumption should not lead to creating unnecessary restrictions for people and economic activities, but should provide the basis for better use of resources by increasing efficiency and improving processes.

Emphasizing the capacity of productivity to strengthen economic growth, the vice-chairman of the Islamic Council stated: the more the share of productivity, quality improvement and new technologies in economic growth increases, the possibility of reducing resource wastage, increasing national income and strengthening development infrastructure will increase.

Stating that Iran has vast capacities in the field of natural resources, he pointed out that having these resources alone does not guarantee progress and their effective exploitation requires careful planning, advanced technology and compliance with quality requirements.

Hajibabaei continued: Instead of allocating a significant part of resources to compensate for inefficiencies and the consequences of suboptimal consumption, it is necessary to create more added value from existing capacities by developing standards, using new technologies and increasing productivity.

He also considered the development of technology and the improvement of productivity in the energy sector as the basis for more effective use of oil and gas resources and added: increasing efficiency in this field can strengthen the economic value of the country's energy resources in the long term.

Emphasizing the necessity of strengthening the infrastructure of the National Standards Organization, the vice-chairman of the Islamic Council said: "The fulfillment of the missions of this organization requires more support, advanced equipment, and updating of technologies and evaluation and monitoring methods."

Referring to the rapid scientific and technological developments in the world, Hajibabaei stated: the country's standardization system must move along with the technological changes and the new needs of industry, production and trade in order to be able to evaluate the quality of products and services more accurately.

He added: The more accurate and efficient the standardization and quality control processes are, the more consumers' trust will increase and domestic producers will have more opportunities to be competitive in global markets.

Referring to the historical and civilizational background of Iran and the scientific and human capacities of the country, Hajibabaei stated: Civilizational capital, Islamic culture and the capabilities of manpower are among the capacities that can be used in the path of progress and promotion of Iran's position in the international arena.

He emphasized: Taking advantage of these capabilities requires investing in science and technology, improving quality, increasing productivity, and developing infrastructure. In the meantime, the National Standard Organization can help improve the performance of various economic and executive sectors by playing its specialized and supervisory role.

In the end, the vice-chairman of the Islamic Council considered the synergy between the people and the officials to be one of the effective factors in advancing the development goals of the country and said: overcoming the challenges and moving towards a better future requires the use of national capacities and the cooperation of all parts of the country.

He pointed out: coordination between the government, parliament, executive bodies and people, along with improving quality and productivity, can provide the basis for more effective use of the country's resources and capabilities and strengthen Iran's position in the international arena.
