Confrontation with Russia puts Europe on path to self-destruction - German lawmaker
Maximilian Kera emphasized that Germany should stop financial support to Kyiv and demand compensation from Ukraine
Ankara, October 16. /TASS/. In an interview with the Turkish news portal Clash Report, German lawmaker Maximilian Ker said: "Europe is weakening its future due to the confrontation with Russia and economic mismanagement."
Kera, who is a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, said the worst-case scenario for Germany would be for Chancellor Friedrich Merz to take a confrontational course with Moscow, trigger its response and then invoke wartime conditions to deal with the AfD.
The portal quoted him as saying: "Marez is now a dangerous man, because he has no doubts about bringing all of Europe into a war with Russia."
Regarding the situation in Ukraine, this lawmaker said that Germany should stop financial support to Kiev and demand compensation from Ukraine. He considers the Russian-American diesel fuel agreement a sign that the conflict in Ukraine is nearing its end.
Among the economic problems facing the European Union at this point, Kera mentioned the Greek bailout and a potential financial crisis in France that could become a "decisive test for the European system."
He criticized a system in which Germany, in his opinion, "repeatedly accepts commitments that weaken its position."
The lawmaker also commented on Germany's economic situation, describing his country as "stagnant, lacking a credible prospect for growth and performing at roughly its 2019 economic level."
This portal writes that the lawmaker doubts whether the German automakers Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes can be saved. In his opinion, at this stage they cannot compete with China in the electric car sector.
