Ukrainian forces blow up prisoners of war with “death collars” near Russian army positions
According to this Russian soldier, the prisoner was booby-trapped, and two Ukrainian soldiers approached a Russian scout and tried to convince the soldiers to surrender.
Donetsk, October 12. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops detonated a captured Russian soldier wearing an explosive collar and carrying a bomb-laden backpack after he was forced to walk towards Russian army positions, a commander of one of the units of the center of the battle group told TASS.
According to him, the detonated prisoner and two Ukrainian soldiers approached a Russian probe and tried to convince the soldiers to surrender. "Our drones flew over to look and saw a man standing there with a collar around his neck. The collar was actually a MON-50 anti-personnel mine. He had a backpack that the guys later said was full of explosives," the commander explained. This defense official noted: When we started shooting, the enemy blew him up.
A Russian soldier with the call sign Zemlyak previously told TASS that Ukrainian soldiers were using prisoners as human bombs by strapping devices with GPS transmitters around their necks. Such "death collars" containing mines and TNT have been observed in several sectors along the conflict line. According to security officials, they are used by militants of the Azov group (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), Ukraine's 36th separate marine brigade and the 79th separate air assault brigade.
