Aghaei: Infrastructure Problems Must Be Resolved Before the Rains
Astara – The Gilan Inspector General, noting the possibility of heavy rainfall caused by El Niño, stressed that executive agencies must urgently fix infrastructure problems before the rains to prevent damage.
Astara- The inspector general of Gilan pointed to the possibility of heavy rains caused by El Nino, and emphasized: Executive bodies should immediately fix the infrastructure problems before the rains to prevent damages.
According to Mehr reporter, Ahmed Aghaei, at the meeting of the crisis management headquarters of Gilan province, which was held in the presence of the governors and mayors of Astara, Talesh and Rizvanshahr counties, in the Astara governorate, referring to the warnings of the General Directorate of Meteorology about the possibility of heavy rains due to the El Nino phenomenon, said: According to expert reports, there is a possibility of the province facing impulsive rains and all managers should be fully prepared to protect people's lives and property.
Stating that some of the agencies are directly involved in managing the consequences of this phenomenon, while others have a relief role, he added: There are more than two hundred high-cost and high-risk points in the urban area that require immediate action, and municipalities are at the forefront of crisis management and must organize the boundaries, waterways, and accident-prone areas immediately.
Criticizing the accumulated problems in the field of construction and urban infrastructure, the Inspector General of Gilan stated: Unregulated development in the past years has put a heavy pressure on the water and sewage networks.
He continued: In the past, five villas were built in one alley, but today, two hundred units have been built, and the sewage network, which was designed for the capacity of twenty units, now has to bear the load of one hundred to two hundred units.
Emphasizing that the surface water network should be separate from the urban sewage network, Mr. Aghaei said: Many of today's problems are caused by this structural disorder, and if fundamental reforms are not carried out, cities will face flooding and damage with every heavy rain.
Referring to the need to comply with the law in city and provincial approvals, he clarified: the approvals must be in accordance with the law and public rights. Prosecutors, the environment and regulatory bodies emphasize the strict implementation of these principles, and no manager should violate the law.
The Inspector General of Gilan also mentioned the condition of the contractors and said: Many contractors have heavy demands from the government and it has become difficult for them to continue working.
He added: If contractors' salaries are not paid, they will not have the necessary support in crises tomorrow. Contractors have thousands of workers and the economic pressure on them has multiplied.
Emphasizing that the provincial regulations should be functional and operational, Mr. Aghaei added: Letters and orders should not remain only on paper. Managers should be in the field and take preventive measures before a crisis occurs.
In the end, he called for the serious participation of all institutions in crisis management and said: If the warnings are not taken seriously, the damages will be heavy. Today is the time for action, not drama.
