Russia's current account surplus reached $35 billion in January–August 2026.

Russia's foreign trade in goods surplus reached $91.6 billion, up from $73.3 billion in January–August 2025.

Moscow, October 15. /TASS/. Russia's current account surplus widened to $35 billion in January-August 2026, up from $21 billion in the same period in 2025, according to a preliminary estimate by the Central Bank of Russia.

The current account surplus reached $3.3 billion in August 2026, compared to a deficit of $0.5 billion last August.

The services deficit increased by $2.3 billion from the January-August 2025 figure, totaling $33.7 billion. This increase was mainly due to the increase in the import of services caused by the increase in the expenses of Russians during their trips abroad and the increase in the costs of transportation services provided by non-residents. The increase in exports was moderate and mainly supported by shipping services, the regulator added.

The central bank said the surplus in foreign trade in goods reached $91.6 billion, up from $73.3 billion in January-August 2025, driven by expanded exports linked to higher prices in global commodity markets.
