The Opel STX Concept is presented as a futuristic electric station wagon that showcases Opel's vision to combine bold design, active aerodynamics and maximum performance in the age of electric vehicles.
The world's automotive industry is moving towards electrification at a breakneck speed, and Opel has taken great steps in this direction by introducing its latest concept product. This concept car represents the evolution of the German company's design philosophy and its main elements will be used in future Opel cars. The main focus is on delivering a power station that is both functionally and visually exciting. This concept is known as Opel Sports Tourer eXperimental Concept or STX for short.
Opel STX concept: electric station with a view to the future
The Opel STX concept is a preview of the company's future models, and not just the next version of the Astra Wagon. Opel describes the car as a bold visualization of a future electric station wagon that represents the next evolution in the brand's design philosophy. Florian Höttel, CEO of Opel, stated that the STX Concept offers a taste of the excitement and emotion of the future station wagon with maximum efficiency and performance, and includes special features that will appear in future Opel production models.
Evolution of "visor" design and aerodynamic bodies
The first feature that attracts attention in the Opel STX concept is the new evolution of the Opel "Vizor" front view. The brand's signature look here is bolder, taller and more prominent than previous models, and is well suited to the proportions and proportions of a station wagon. The optical signature consists of angled vertical stripes that form the outer edges of the visor and taper toward the center; While the illuminated lightning bolt logo of Opel remains the focal point. The prominent line on the hood is also emphasized by the sharp and sporty front fascia.
The rear also follows a similar design pattern. The roofline drops sharply, which Opel says makes it possible to combine "maximum everyday usability through additional cargo space with a modern design." Light and narrow elements along the axis of the compass and the word "Opel" are illuminated in the center of the rear door. The prominent C-pillars are another notable feature; Glass light strips extend from the window line to the rear and continue up to the ceiling, creating a distinct visual element. Illuminated STX lettering runs along the sides, while cameras take the place of traditional side mirrors. From the side, the silver-blue concept has a low, aerodynamic silhouette designed for high efficiency over long distances and stability at high speeds. Proportioned body, short overhangs and wide wheel arches give this station a powerful and stable appearance.
Active aerodynamic system and all-electric engine
Aerodynamics plays a major role in the Opel STX concept, as Opel aims to improve not only performance and range, but also straight-line stability and driving dynamics. Specially designed alloy wheels shod with Goodyear 285/35 R22 tires help with this. The concept also features an active aerodynamics system that continuously adjusts to driving conditions. Moving elements at the rear help manage airflow, reduce drag and improve stability. At higher speeds, blue diffusers protrude from under the rear of the car, while vertical elements behind the wheels extend outward from the bumper to further smooth airflow.
Beneath the concept's sleek body is what Opel calls an "innovative all-wheel drive electric architecture." The company has not yet provided exact specifications, but it says the STX concept has a top speed of more than 200 km/h. Inside, Opel has taken its "painting with light" theme to the next level. This idea first appeared in the Opel Experimental 2023 and then in the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo 2025. The STX Concept builds on this approach with ambient lighting elements and lightweight seats.

All in all, the Opel STX Concept is more than just a stunning show car. This is Opel's vision for the future of station wagons in the electric age, and the company says the concept incorporates design elements that will appear in future production models. However, we shouldn't expect this technology and design style to hit the market anytime soon, and we probably won't see it before 2028.
