Referring to the escalation of tension between Washington and Kiev, a Russian official said that the president of Ukraine is seeking to form an anti-American front in Europe.
According to Ambassador Arjan's report, quoted by RIA Novosti, Grigory Karasin, the first deputy of the International Affairs Committee of the Council of the Russian Federation, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is seeking to form an anti-American front with the participation of Western European countries.
Referring to the temporary lifting of the embargo on Russian diesel by the US, this Russian official said: "Zelensky is trying to prevent Moscow and Washington from reaching new agreements by getting closer to Western European countries and making the process of negotiations between the two countries more difficult."
Karasin added: Kyiv and Brussels are looking forward to the mid-term elections of the American Congress in November and hope that possible changes in the American political environment will affect Washington's policy towards the war in Ukraine and the country's relations with Russia.
The dispute over the diesel fuel agreement has become one of the main points of tension between Washington and Kiev in recent days. Zelensky demanded an explanation about this agreement and said that the US could have negotiated with Ukraine about fuel supply instead of Russia.
