Salma Blair was arrested at New York's JFK Airport on Sunday after attacking flight attendants on Delta Air Lines Flight 938 from Los Angeles.
Around 11pm ET last night, the Port of New York Police Department responded to a call about a physically abusive passenger identified as Blair, 54, after allegedly assaulting Delta employees. As first reported by TMZ and confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another. He also reportedly tried to open a door at one point on the flight.

Salma Blair is gearing up for Bridget Stokes' coming-of-age thriller Schmoolie The Deathwatcher.
Blair was taken into custody by the Port Police Department and taken to the hospital for evaluation. Two Delta employees also reported injuries, one of which was serious enough that they were also taken to a hospital for further evaluation. It was handled by the FBI, which is currently investigating the incident, as the agency is responsible for investigating all attacks on airplanes. However, "in accordance with long-standing policies" of the Department of Justice, the FBI declined to comment further. It is unclear what charges Blair is currently facing.
"Delta has zero tolerance for illegal or illegal behavior because the safety of our customers and crew always comes first," a Delta representative told THR. The incident had no operational impact on the flight as it landed at JFK ahead of schedule.
As for Blair, her publicist confirmed the incident, saying, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged behavior. After landing, he received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.
This is not Blair's first incident on a flight. In June 2016, Blair, returning to Los Angeles from a vacation in Cancun, Mexico, began screaming uncontrollably, causing chaos on the flight. Two nurses on board helped to bring the actress under control, who was then taken to hospital for evaluation. As reported by THR at the time, Blair apologized and claimed she passed out after mixing prescription drugs and alcohol.
"Yesterday I made a huge mistake. After a lovely trip with my son and his father, I mixed alcohol with medication, which caused me to black out and do things I deeply regret. I take this very seriously and apologize to all the passengers and crew I caused and thank all the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am an imperfect human who makes mistakes and "I am really sorry for this incident."
Sunday's incident came just days after Blair delivered a revealing speech at the New York Jewish Museum during a reception for the Anti-Defamation League. He described the extent of the consequences to his career after anti-extremist comments he made on Instagram.
The brands I worked with were gone within a day. Several partnerships I had spent years building were abandoned. My agency disappeared. My lawyer left. My advertising expert left. My book representative left. The publicist of my book is gone. My social media manager is gone. My son's godmother was gone - while my best friend was by my side. "My manager, my friend of 30 years and a Jew, I still don't know what they were thinking," Blair explained of the February 2024 incident.
