Dmitriev calls the suspension of Graham's law a historic moment

Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of the Russian president for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, emphasized that the economic cooperation between Russia and the United States is in the interest of both countries.

Moscow, October 17. /TASS/. Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the Russian President on investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that the suspension of the late Senator Lindsey Graham's law (known in Russia as a terrorist and extremist) is a historic moment.

"The suspension of the Graham Act by President [Donald] Trump's administration is an important and truly historic moment," Dmitriev wrote on Telegram.

According to him, Graham's Law could completely stop the economic cooperation between Russia and the United States and cause serious damage to the American economy and global markets.

He said: The economic cooperation between Russia and America is beneficial to both countries, it helps the stability of the world economy and creates the foundation for building trust and achieving sustainable peace.

Trump issued an executive order saying he would not impose a number of sanctions against Russia under the Sanctions Act.

On September 18, Trump signed a bill passed by Congress that imposes sanctions on Russia's top political and military leadership, state-owned enterprises, as well as secondary sanctions on Russia's business partners. According to the document, within 30 days of its signing — or by Oct. 18 — the Washington administration must determine which companies and individuals may be subject to restrictions, or determine that such new restrictive measures are not in the best interest of the United States, and notify Congress.
