Foreign Minister: Russia-India relations remain unchanged amid global turmoil

India has enjoyed good relations with Russia since the early years of its independence.

New Delhi, October 14. /TASS/. Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that relations between Russia and India remain unchanged despite major changes in the world.

India has had good relations with Russia since the early years of its independence and these relations have remained stable. Talking to John Micklewhite, editor of the Bloomberg New Economics Association, the Indian foreign minister said at a business forum in New Delhi: We (India) are a natural partner for Russia because we have had very good relations with Russia practically from the beginning.

He added: "We assure Russia that despite all the changes in the world, New Delhi's relations with Moscow, which have been established over the past 75-80 years, will remain unchanged and will help improve the balance of power and the overall situation in Asia. We consider this a good sign."

According to Jaishankar, India is becoming a real partner for Russia as Moscow increasingly develops its relations with Asian countries. The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted: As a result of the war in Ukraine, Russia is much more focused on Asia. Apart from India, China is a major part of this picture in Asia. But I believe that it is in our interest and in the interest of the whole world that Russia has a choice and other important and meaningful relations in Asia.
