US and UK Consult on Iran and the Strait of Hormuz
US and UK foreign ministers, in a new discussion on maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, consulted on Iran and efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war.
The foreign ministers of the United States and the United Kingdom discussed maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, the issue of Iran and efforts to resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Ambassador Arjan-International Group: "Tommy Pigott", the spokesperson of the US Department of State, claimed that Rubio and Miliband "once again emphasized their joint commitment to guaranteeing the passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the importance of holding Iran accountable and continuing cooperation to ensure the security of US assets in England".
The Strait of Hormuz, which was closed to the ships of the warring parties and the countries of origin of the attacks against Iran since the beginning of the aggressive and illegal war of the United States against Iran, was opened after the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington on the end of the war, according to Iranian arrangements and under the supervision of the Iranian armed forces. But it was closed as a result of Washington's violation of its commitments in the memorandum, including efforts to divert ships through alternative routes. Iranian officials have announced that the strait will remain closed until the United States returns to fulfill its obligations in the memorandum of understanding, the end of the war and its threat.
Tehran authorities have repeatedly rejected the Trump administration's claims of taking over control of the Strait of Hormuz and considered it an attempt to temporarily control the fuel areas in the United States. Iran considers it its right to exercise its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and control safe traffic through it as one of the coastal countries of this waterway.
Rubio also emphasized the broader strategic alliance between Washington and London and noted the cooperation of the two countries to "stabilize global energy markets while ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict by reaching a negotiated settlement."
This conversation took place after the announcement of an agreement by US President Donald Trump, which will allow the export of Russian diesel to the American and world markets.
The US Secretary of State considered the departure of strategic bombers from the British Fairford base as a result of the regular rotation and transfer of military equipment and did not link it to the recent security incident.
Simon Harris, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Ireland, said: "The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and Donald Trump's war with Iran are the main causes of chaos in the global energy markets."
The US State Department announced the conversation between Marco Rubio and Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, the foreign ministers of the US and Oman, about Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. A consultation that was held at the same time as Tehran announced the finalization of the understanding with Oman in the field of shipping routes and has once again turned the Strait of Hormuz into the center of diplomatic developments in the region.
