The BBC has confirmed it has erased a transgender rights slogan from a T-shirt worn by 'Dragon House' star Bethany Antonia, who is currently on the set of the Strictly Come Dancing competition.
In a video posted on social media by the BBC last week, Antonia was seen rehearsing for the UK version of Dancing with the Stars wearing a white top with the words 'Protect the Dolls' written on it. But on Saturday's telecast, Antonia's T-shirt was censored and appeared to be all white. Designed by Connor Ives, the 'Protect the Dolls' t-shirt debuted at London Fashion Week 2025. ("Dolls" is an affectionate term among the LGBTQ trans queer community.)
Antonia did not immediately respond to Variety's request for comment.
The actress, who plays Lady Baela Targaryen in the Game of Thrones spin-off series, will be paired with professional dancer Nancy Zhou in Strictly Come Dancing, which airs Saturdays on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. "Gavin and Stacey" actress Melanie Walters was eliminated from the competition over the weekend.
