Weather warning of continued above-normal rainfall in Ardabil this autumn
ARDABIL – The director general of meteorology for Ardabil Province announced a weather warning about continued above-normal rainfall in the province this autumn.
Referring to the latest output of climate models and seasonal forecasts, Majid Kohi, in a conversation with Mehr reporter, announced the forecast of more than normal rainfall during the months of October and November (Mehr and November) in the province and emphasized the need for executive bodies to be prepared and citizens to pay serious attention to weather warnings.
Referring to the weather events of the past few days, he said: The recent rain systems that led to floods and damage to infrastructure, lands and facilities in the northern regions of the province are a serious warning for the beginning of the current rainy season. These events clearly show that the region's vulnerability to heavy rains and torrential rains is high, and atmospheric behaviors require continuous monitoring and preventive measures.
The Director General of Meteorology of Ardabil Province, explaining the synoptic conditions and macro patterns governing the region's climate, added: The analysis of forecasting models shows that during the months of October and November, the total rainfall of the province will tend to higher than normal figures. One of the main drivers of these changes is the strengthening of remote connection indicators and the formation of the powerful "Super El Nino" phenomenon this year; A climate system that statistically and dynamically increases the potential of strengthening the Mediterranean and Sudanese systems and transferring appropriate moisture to the latitudes of the country and the northwest region.
Majid Kohi, while emphasizing the change of rainfall patterns and the occurrence of concentrated rains and torrential rains, noted: due to the mountainous climate of the province and the steep slope of the catchment basins, short-term showers can turn into surface runoff and destructive floods in the shortest possible time. Therefore, we request all our dear co-provincials, especially the residents of flood-prone areas, to observe the short-term forecasts and different levels of weather warnings (yellow, orange, and red) issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology and refrain from stopping or traveling in the boundaries and beds of rivers and canals.
At the end, Kohi emphasized: The General Directorate of Meteorology of Ardabil province monitors weather systems and simulations 24 hours a day and will provide additional information and timely warnings to the people and crisis management through official media and information channels.
