Photo: Autumn Apple Harvest Season in Ahar
According to Ambassador Arjan, Ahar city is one of the important centers of apple production in East Azarbaijan province. Every year, 85% of the products, i.e. more than 110,000 tons of different types of apples, including red, Lebanese, autumn, etc., are produced and sent to domestic and foreign markets in the area of about 18,000 hectares of orchards in this city. Unfortunately, this year due to the spring frost, lack of inoculation due to temperature drop, fog pollution and humid air, which led to the inactivity of pollinating insects, especially bees, and the occurrence of hail, the amount of harvest of this product has decreased to 77,800 tons. With this amount of harvest, the average total damage to apple orchards in Ahar city is 60%, and the amount of sales in consumer markets as fresh eating, storage in cold stores, and export is 55,000 tons.
