Out of the Shadows with Official FIFA Approval: Historic Unveiling of VAR in Women's Football
The sensitive Derby between Khatoon Bam and Gol Gohar Sirjan on Friday will be held with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system in place.
According to "Varzesh Se", the matches of the Iranian Women's Premier Football League have reached their fourth stop, and one of the most historic frames of this tournament is going to be recorded. As promised earlier, the project of equipping domestic competitions with video assistant referee technology, after being used in the Premier League and Men's League One, finally reached the women's football station, so that next Friday, we will see the first referee equipped with this technology in the women's league.
Even the Football Federation called this action an unprecedented event in the history of women's competitions and said that it was implemented after consultations and after obtaining the necessary permits from FIFA so that the highest level of refereeing can be used in the most sensitive battle of the fourth week of the women's league.
The official media of the federation wrote in a note about this decision:
"The decision of the Football Federation to enable the use of VAR by obtaining the necessary permits from FIFA is a significant step in the development of women's football. Holding these matches, especially in sensitive matches such as the Kerman derby and the capital derby, can create a new experience for the players, referees and executives; An experience whose value is not limited to the decisions made in the VAR room."
Accordingly, the traditional and sensitive confrontation between the two main contenders for the cup, namely Khatun Bam and Golghar Sirjan, has been chosen as the basis for the implementation of this technology; A match that, in addition to being judged by prominent female referees on the field, the helm of the video control room is also entrusted to Mahnaz Zakaei and Atena Leshni, who have previously recorded the experience of sitting in the VAR room of men's football matches in their records.
