Six years after announcing her split from parent CBS, Anna Faris has responded to Chuck Lorre's comments about her exit.

On Thursday, the actress shared a statement explaining that she "never took [the show] for granted" after show co-creator Lorre wrote in her new sitcom memoir that she was "actually right" about her initial reluctance to play Christy Plunkett on the sitcom.

Yes, she began in a statement on Instagram. "Chuck gave me a job I loved, and for seven years I never took a day of it for granted. I'm proud of what we built together and nothing changes how grateful I am for those people and those years."

Faris continued, "I've been sober for a year and a half. I was on a program about recovery and then I lived it. Now I'm healthy, working, and happier than I've been in a long time. If anyone is reading this where I was, I hope it helps. It gets better. I'll prove it." Watch on Deadline

Faris, who premiered in 2013, starred in the first seven seasons of Mom as Christy, a recovering alcoholic who struggles to maintain her job, family and sobriety as her mother Bonnie (Allison Janney), also in recovery, moves in with her.

Faris left the show in 2020 to "pursue new opportunities", leaving Janney as sole host for the eighth and final season, which ended in 2021.

In an episode of the sitcom, Lorre wrote, "I wasn't sure Anna was right for this kind of material. Then I thought about how much I messed up my working relationship with Charlie Sheen.

After her experience with Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men, Lorre admitted, "I don't care about someone's personal life. The mother in Anna Faris's mom will and should be."

Lorre added: "Over the years, it became clear that my initial reluctance to hire Anna was in fact correct. After six years, she left the show for mysterious reasons unknown to anyone on the show."
