New Account of the Hasti Mahdavifar Case and the Japanese Ambassador

After a video was released in which film and television actress Hasti Mahdavifar addressed the Japanese ambassador and made claims about her experience in Japan, an informed source described the handling of the matter and the measures taken by Iran's consular section.

According to Ambassador Arjan, based on the explanation of this source, the story goes back to Ms. Mahdavifar's trip to Japan in September 1403 to participate in a film festival, during which Mahdavifar claims that she was assaulted in the Tokyo subway, and after going to the police and considering the complaint process, her stay in Japan was prolonged and exceeded the allowed period of stay (overstay).

Referring to the involvement of the Iranian embassy in the matter and the follow-ups carried out to facilitate his departure from Japan, he added that the complaints raised by Mrs. Mehdavifar in the consular support department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also been followed up.

According to him, Mahdavifar requested to travel to Japan again after that, but this request has faced problems, including the conditions caused by military operations and the dispute that arose during the dialogue with the Japanese consular department in Tehran.

This source emphasized that based on the investigations, no obvious violation has been observed by the Japanese ambassador or embassy.

He also referred to the speculations raised on social networks about the personal and moral dimensions of this issue, and asked the activists in the virtual space to be careful about speculations about things that even the actor has denied in his subsequent explanations.

He expressed his hope that the issue will be pursued through responsible and official channels and prevent this issue from turning into a wave of possible speculations and exploitations.
