Ukraine settlement timeline, US intervention: Lukashenko's statement

US President Donald Trump "shouldn't dictate to Ukraine what to do," the Belarusian president said.

Minsk, October 16. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he is convinced that peace will be achieved in Ukraine this year or next.

He also said that although the United States considers itself invincible, there are higher powers that "can put superior and powerful people in their place."

TASS has collected the key statements of the President of Belarus.

Peace will be achieved in Ukraine this year or next year.

"Russia is stronger, more solid" and "can fight for a long time", but "its economic impact is tremendous": "Who could like and want this? The Russians understand this, they are ready for peace."

"If the Ukrainians do not agree to a peaceful settlement this year, next year will be more difficult for them, and ultimately impossible."

Belarus wants the conflict in Ukraine to end as soon as possible and is ready to do all it can to help achieve it: "Peace is not only possible, but necessary. There will be peace; this peace will be achieved. We would like the war to end next year, or even better this year. We are all for it and will do our best in this regard."

"Different factors are affecting Russia and Ukraine. But these factors are clearly pushing both Ukraine and Russia towards peace, due to the impossibility of continuing such military operations. For these humanitarian and humanitarian reasons, peace is needed there. And it will be achieved."

Volodymyr Zelensky once promised to remain in office for one term: "Promises must be kept."

Zelensky should hold presidential elections in Ukraine: "He should organize an election."

US President Donald Trump "shouldn't be dictating to Ukraine what to do."

The United States considers itself invincible, but there are higher powers that "can put the high and mighty in their place": "All are God-loving and devout... and He [God] sees all and will strike them hard." That's why we have to be more careful here. We don't know for sure, but there are many forces in nature that can put great and powerful people in their place. We have to remember that."

Zelensky has become dependent on the United States and Trump: “Why is [Trump] dictating to [Ukraine] what to do? Because Zelensky is dependent on America and Trump. Well, he [Trump] might not do it, but he will first stop sharing information and then stop providing arms to Ukraine, which is desperately needed. And maybe something else along with the weapon."
