It's a frustrating industry: losing that one essential item in the set and not being able to get it fast enough, no matter how many PAs are used. And it turns out Kim Kardashian is all too familiar with this pain point — so much so that she's partnering with DoorDash to make her $5 billion clothing company Skims available for on-demand delivery through the once-heavy food platform.
Starting Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET, shoppers in more than 10 states can access 19 Skims stores almost instantly without ever leaving home, as purchases are delivered directly to their doorstep in less than an hour (delivery times may vary, according to DoorDash).

As such, Skims joins retailers like Urban Outfitters, The North Face, Gap, and Anthropologie, which are already shoppable on the DoorDash website and app under the "Retail" category, becoming part of a growing trend that's exposing traditional retail to a kind of "quick business" and grocery-style treatment.
Thanks to a limited-time promotion from DoorDash and Skims, users can also save $125 or 15% on Skims orders. More (up to $25 off) with promo code SKIMS15 at checkout.
"[The collaboration] was inspired by conversations I've had with friends and family members who think I'm skims customer service. They call me all the time and want a bodysuit, underwear or bra and they need it now. They assume I have a warehouse on speed dial," Kardashian tells The Hollywood Reporter. "In my frustration, I thought, 'How easy would it be if we just connected to a program that could usually get the product to you within an hour?'
The solution appeared faster than expected: "Well, it's actually DoorDash," Kardashian continues. “[I realized] it would be a genius idea, so we did it. Now, if someone wants something from me, I just say, "Go to DoorDash. Drop me off."
DoorDash is Skims' first on-demand delivery partner, effectively revolutionizing the way the brand's fans can shop for non-negotiable, everyday staples (think the seamless Sculpt crop top) and seasonal, viral Internet drops, like the brand's knitwear collection.
Eleventh-hour fashion emergencies happen - from not wearing that tight pair of shorts to realizing you have nothing to wear on a third date, despite having a closet full of them - and Skims are notoriously problematic by nature.
"My friends are all going to a wedding this weekend and one of them was like, 'Oh my god, I totally forgot to pack [a certain piece of Skims] and I can't get to the store in time. "DoorDash is the easiest thing to do." Kardashian says.
The 45-year-old reveals another complication she's experienced in her career that she could have easily avoided with the Skims x DoorDash tie-in: “I was wearing a dress and it was really tight, to the point where it flattened my chest. "I needed a fuller bra with padding to make the dress bigger, but I didn't have it with me because I wasn't at home."
In addition to bras, the main line of Skims shapewear is something she plans to successfully sell on DoorDash.
“I wear uniforms under my clothes so they're not see-through. "If you have an outfit and right before going out you realize it's maybe a little more see-through than you thought, this can be the quickest fix."
Customers can shop more than 23,000 SKUs through DoorDash across the Skims collection, and shopping there is as simple and intuitive as ordering Chef Kim's Goop Kitchen Broth Magic Mineral when you're sick.
The surprise landing of Skims on DoorDash was announced through a campaign directed by Daniel Sachson, produced by branded content studio OBB Bolded and filmed at OBB Studios in Hollywood.
In the ad, Kardashian can be seen shopping for Skims push-up bras, nipple bras and other pieces on the DoorDash app: elements of her look that need to be changed in the midst of high stress. Photography After all, she's looking for the perfect shot, and after a few deliveries, she nails it.
"DoorDash was built on one idea: You should be able to get everything you need in your neighborhood, right now," said Shana Parveh, chief revenue officer at DoorDash, in a press release. "And increasingly, it's not just dinner, it's what you wear to dinner."
Whether it's a sculptural savior you plan to layer under your favorite jeans or a Signature Swim Cut Out One Piece that can save the day when none of your swimwear fits your bachelorette weekend mood (and the airport check-in is in three hours), getting Skims has never been more effortless.
Forget what psychologists have told you: instant gratification is highly encouraged.

"It's cooler here in the mornings now, so I'm wearing my matte NikeSkims," Kardashian tells THR. "I put on one of our skim sweats in a bigger size and roll [the waist] down so you can see the legs a little bit."
"I drop the kids off and when I go to practice, I just wipe off my sweats," he adds. "I don't want to be at their school in a full practice dress, and a double-layer dress looks really cute with leggings."
Other constants in the Daily Kardashian skims equation? A NikeSkims sports bra and one of our hoodies above.
When she's doing the morning craziness, getting the kids out the door, Kardashian turns to the NikeSkims Fanny Pack and Harness Waistpack to stay organized and keep track of all her essentials.
