The Mission S concept is the latest fruit of the Porsche design team, which is a mid-engined super sports car with curved and continuous lines.
Porsche has just unveiled a new concept model called The Mission S, which is a mid-engined supercar with a futuristic design. Porsche's new concept model represents the brand's future direction and a completely new platform for super sports; A platform that is likely to become a permanent part of the Porsche product line in the future. The designers of this concept model claim that the car in question is not only a product with an attractive appearance, but the legacy of previous Porsche products has also influenced its design to create a combination of eye-catching visual appearance, modern cabin and classic elements.
Porsche has not yet announced plans to launch a commercial version of The Mission S; But it is possible that this product will not remain only as a concept model and will become the heir of popular models like 911 in the future. Of course, in the design details of the new model, you can see signs of other Porsche products, including the 959, 917 and GT1. The front part with a downward curve and a low height, along with torpedo-like fenders and round headlights, are among the features that can be seen in other Porsche cars.
Porsche calls the design language used in its new concept model "floating volumes"; Because the body lines are drawn as if an independent volume is placed on the main body and moves along with it. It goes without saying that the use of the middle engine in this model has made proportions and dimensions suitable for such a structure to be formed. Also, a continuous line is drawn from the front part to the end of the body, which connects these two parts to each other. The rear fin of the car is integrated seamlessly with the body and does not seem to be a separate piece.
At the back of the engine compartment, elements similar to air vents can be seen, which are reminiscent of the design of the legendary Porsche 917 car. Designers have also taken a different path in designing the cabin and instead of using multiple screens in different sections, they have tried to create a minimal space. Cabin elements are placed around the driver; So that the driver is in the center and all the components are adjusted according to his seat position.
The interior design of The Mission S concept can be reminiscent of early Porsche products, such as the 550 Spyder and the 356. Two dividing grooves extend from the center console towards the doors, dividing the interior into upper and lower sections. Behind the steering wheel there are five analog pointers; However, digital displays have also been used in some parts. As seen in the teaser released by Porsche, it is possible to move the screens according to the driving mode.
Another distinctive feature of the new Porsche concept is the use of physical keys and switches instead of tactile ones. The keys related to car features, interior settings and seat adjustment are also physical, and there is no mention of a central touch screen or a dedicated screen for the front passenger. Of course, there is a dedicated place to place a smartphone with Apple MagSafe standard support, so that the driver can easily use his mobile phone for navigation and viewing information.
