City was surprised / Bayern's gem rejected the offer of 100 million euros
Bayern Munich club was willing to consider City's offer of more than 100 million euros for Alex Pavlovic.
According to "Sports Three", Alexander Pavlovich (22 years old) is from the academy of Bayern Munich. He has been playing as a central midfielder for this club since 2011. In the last three years, there has been a significant improvement in Pavlovich's performance.
Since the summer of 2023, he has been added to the main team of Bayern Munich, the most proud club in Germany, and is now recognized as one of the main pillars of the midfield. Under the guidance of head coach Vincent Kompany (40), Pavlovich has established himself as an undisputed regular in the starting line-up.
Therefore, it is not surprising that major international clubs have also expressed interest in recruiting this German international player. Manchester City, who are currently at the top of the English Premier League, made serious inquiries about Pavlovich in March and were willing to pay 100 million euros for the Munich-born player, according to Bild.
The Citizens' initial plan was for Pavlovic to replace Rodri (30), a World Cup winner who joined Barcelona and won the Ballon d'Or in 2024. But after a few days of thinking, Pavlovich rejected the offer. In an interview with Sport Bild, he spoke for the first time about City's offer and explained why he decided not to accept the offer.
"City" officials were "surprised".
"First of all, it is an honor to be offered by a big club like City," said Pavlovich. I grew up in Munich, I live here and I have always played for Bayern. My family and friends are here and nothing else is more important to me. Because of this, it was easy for me to make a decision."
Manchester City's rejection of the offer was unexpected, as Christian Falk, Bild's head of football, recently reported: "I heard they (Manchester City) were surprised. They did not expect this. Probably they were willing to negotiate with Bayern to pay more. "But basically, no official offer was made because Pavlovich said, 'No, I'm not going to go anyway.'
The clear message: Pavlovic sees his future at Bayern Munich and believes he still has a long way to go to improve at the club. Due to his style of play, he is currently being compared to Rhodri. "Everyone knows what an outstanding midfielder Rodri is," Pavlovich explained. He didn't win the "balloon away" award for no reason. Of course, it makes me proud to be compared to such a player. "I take this as motivation to reach my goal: I want to constantly improve and become a top player at the world level."
Pavlovic has also set ambitious goals for this season: "We want to win all the trophies: the Champions League, the German Cup and the Bundesliga championship."
