How to Play Your Favorite Games on Your Laptop with Top Graphics in Uni

Textbooks, bedding, a year's supply of instant noodles – packing for uni means prioritizing the essentials, and it often means your full game setup stays at home. As such, your gaming opportunities are likely limited to the mediocre hardware that's built into your laptop. However, there is a way to enjoy the latest releases and your favorite games from your college days, all thanks to NVIDIA's cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW.

GeForce NOW is a platform that allows you to stream games directly from the cloud to your device, including laptops, mobiles, tablets and more, without having to purchase additional hardware.

GeForce NOW enables you to play games you already own by accessing them from across your game libraries in the cloud. Without the need for bulk data downloads and local updates, precious storage space on your uni laptop can be reserved for papers and courses, keeping parents happy. In addition, you can take advantage of the latest graphics technologies such as NVIDIA DLSS, Reflex, Multi-Frame Generation and more, because GeForce NOW gives you remote access to GeForce RTX 50 series technology via NVIDIA servers, allowing you to play the latest advanced graphics technologies without having a set of Resonant CONTROL.

Whether you're a gamer, FPS fan, or RPG adventurer, there are over 4,500 games available in the GeForce NOW cloud. The majority are Ready to Play Instantly (R2P), and those that do require installation (flagged as I2P) and can be downloaded to the service's cloud hardware. Plus, you're not limited by platform — whatever library your game of choice is on Steam, the Epic Games Store, Xbox Game Pass, and more, with GeForce NOW, you can jump into multiple devices and play right where you left off.

Best of all, GeForce NOW membership comes with a free tier, so you can enjoy the benefits of remote game access and great graphics performance without spending a penny:

1 hour of game sessions (unlimited sessions per day)

To go ad-free, upgrading to Premium costs just £9.99 a month (aka dropping off a few coffees or pints in the Student Union). Then you will get more points by doing this:

6 hours of play (unlimited sessions per day)

And for high-end cloud gaming, you can experience maximum performance with GeForce NOW's Ultimate Tier. For £19.99 per month, this membership gives you the full suite of GeForce NOW features and functionality:

Ultimate Tier (£19.99 per month, GeForce RTX 5080)

NVIDIA RTX Ray Tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 5 and NVIDIA Reflex

If you don't want to commit to a monthly plan, you can even get yourself a GeForce NOW Day Pass and experience the functionality of the service in your no-frills workbook. A Performance Pass is just £3.99 and 24 hours of Ultimate will set you back just £7.99 - ideal if you're determined to get a lot of time off on the first day of term.

Talk through your lag thanks to GeForce NOW and enjoy the latest releases in high definition – without having to move your home rig or pay for new hardware. With thousands of games to choose from, you only need an internet connection to play from your residence, library or wherever suits you best. Visit to review membership and pass options in full.
