Baumann Hopes to Become Germany's First-Choice Goalkeeper; Ter Stegen's Rival Overshadows Nagelsmann!

Oliver Baumann says he has no intention of retiring from international duty and hopes his club will be called up to the national team.

According to Sports Three, Oliver Baumann, the veteran goalkeeper of Hoffenheim, says that he has not yet lost his hope to appear in the goal of the German national team again, and he does not intend to hang up his gloves at the national level.

Before his team's match against Besiktas in the Europa League, 36-year-old Oliver Baumann spoke to RTL about his motivation to return to the German national team camp. Referring to the conversation he had with Jurgen Klopp after the end of the World Cup, Bauman explained: "The discussion of age and youth is discussed, but Klopp has not closed the doors to me. That's why I will never say goodbye to the national team. As always, I will try to give the best performance and play at a level that the technical staff will think about me. Physically, I am fully ready to help my country's national team, although ultimately everything depends on the head coach's decision."

Baumann was Germany's number one goalkeeper in all the World Cup qualifiers, but before the tournament, Julian Nagelsmann decided to convince Manuel Neuer to reverse his decision to retire and play in the World Cup. This decision put Bauman on the bench during the tournament.

Despite maintaining a good relationship with the former head coach, Hoffenheim's goalkeeper does not hide his displeasure with the decision of those days: "I have no problem with Julian and we even talked after the World Cup. Our relationship was good, but the fact is that that decision made me very angry and sad and I didn't understand why. Of course, Nagelzaman himself knows this because we spoke very clearly about this."

The German national team was eliminated in the World Cup with an early defeat in the round of 16, and Nagelsmann stepped down and Jurgen Klopp took over the leadership of the Germans. Although Klopp did not include Baumann in his first 44-man roster for the UEFA Nations League, this veteran goalkeeper still hopes to attract the positive opinion of the new technical staff by shining in the Bundesliga.
