Update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker adds a new story mode with additional combat assistance, a potion that lets you forget your abilities and master new ones, and you can also pet dogs and cats.

Expected to be released next week, the patch also brings changes to combat targeting, camera and navigation, a FrameGen update, uncensored blood and gore in the Japanese version on Steam, and over 1,100 other improvements and fixes.

The patch notes were shared on Twitter/X and describe several of the changes that game director Konrad Tomashkiewicz told our Bertie last month.

The game difficulty, formerly known as Story, will be renamed to "Forgiving" difficulty, and a different new story mode will be added with additional combat assistance.

Draft of Mind Rebirth makes you forget all of your swordsmanship, sorcery, and vampiric abilities, so you can spend the time learning them on a different set.

This update also properly allows you to pet dogs and cats.

The team is also working on some technical issues including updating FrameGen technology and proprietary settings.

Blood of Dawnwalker arrived in early September and earned four stars at Eurogamer. Bertie praised the novel's time-bound structure and free-form approach, as well as its enjoyable missions and characters. Writing: "CD Projekt Red alumni create a familiar dark fantasy adventure, but one with bold and provocative ideas of its own, which is mostly very successful."
