Apple recently announced its long-rumored smart home hub, HomeView, during today's "Welcome Home" event. As part of the event, it showed off a video of the new device, and if you want to see it for yourself, you can watch it here.

The HomeView is a 7-inch square screen. It costs $299 and comes in two versions: one that mounts on the wall and one that sits atop a small speaker stand. It can be used to display smart home controls, gather information with Siri AI, make video calls, and display footage from HomeKit-secured video cameras. It is also a material controller and a boundary router.

Apple CEO John Ternos also shared a short video of HomeView in a post on X showing some of the different "faces" users can choose from.

HomeView will be available for pre-order starting today in four color options including Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink and Space Grey. It will start shipping on November 13.

Apple has long been rumored to be working on some sort of smart home display. The company originally planned to launch one in 2024, Bloomberg reported, an AI-based upgrade to Siri, but had to change plans after it delayed the Siri upgrade. Apple finally launched its Siri AI overhaul last month alongside updates to its operating system.
