Hainan Ribao reported that 32,900 foreign tourists visited Hainan during the Golden Week.

HAIKOU /China/, October 12. /TASS/. Hainan Ribao reported that southern China's Hainan province welcomed more than 4.75 million tourists during the National Day holiday, also known as "Golden Week."

According to this newspaper, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province announced that this region had an annual increase of 13.1% compared to last year from October 1 to 7. Official estimates show that during the seven-day period, tourists spent more than 6.87 billion yuan (about one billion dollars - TASS) on the island, an increase of 14.7 percent compared to the same period in 2025.

Hainan Ribao noted that 32,900 foreign tourists visited Hainan during the Golden Week. This figure is 18.4% more than last year and 88.6% more than the same period in 2024.

Despite the increase in the activity of local markets, the number of daily complaints received from tourists in the province during the reporting period decreased by 22.7% compared to the same period last year. According to the authorities, this indicates the improvement of the quality of services and public safety, as well as the effectiveness of measures to eliminate various risks and prevent emergency incidents. Data from local law enforcement agencies showed that there were no major incidents in Hainan over the weekend.

In addition to beach vacations, which have traditionally been very popular, tourists showed great interest in cultural and recreational events, including performing arts groups and visiting local villages and educational programs for children and their parents. Tourists also actively visited Hainan museums, which received more than 236,000 visitors during the week. In addition, trips to places related to the historical events of the years of the revolution flourished.

Meanwhile, local tour operators have noted an increase in tourists traveling to Hainan and exploring destinations in the central region of the province, not just the coastal areas. As a result, hotel occupancy rates were high not only in the resort city of Sanya and the provincial capital of Haikou, but also in smaller cities. Traffic on the island's circular highway has increased by 10.5 percent compared to the same period in 2025 and exceeded 4.39 million people.
