Ukrainian Scam Call Centers Shift Focus to Western Countries – Expert
According to Alexander Perlygin, reports have appeared in the Swiss press about the challenges local law enforcement agencies face in investigating Ukrainian scam call centers operating in their territory.
Moscow, October 12. /TASS/. Retired FSB Major General Alexander Perlygin told reporters that Ukrainian fraud call centers are now targeting Western countries, including Switzerland, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, because they have realized they can no longer prey on Russia.
"Recently there has been a significant turn of events. Our law enforcement agencies and special services are taking very active countermeasures and public awareness campaigns are underway. This has reduced the opportunities for fraud in Russia. Meanwhile, the appetite [for call centers] has increased. So how does organized crime react in this situation? Europe is not looking to find a new specialist Europe like this."
According to him, there are already reports in the Swiss press about the challenges that local law enforcement agencies face in investigating Ukrainian fraud call centers on their territory. Poland, Lithuania and Latvia are also facing similar problems. "Furthermore, as far as I know, they are targeting America now," Perligin emphasized.
This expert considered this development because the Western countries have long ignored this problem and believe that Russia has solved this issue too much. He noted: Westerners are now tired of these call centers, because it has started to cause problems for them. According to Perelygin, one publication said that Russians now make up only 10-15% of victims of Ukrainian call centers. "In short, now that this infection has spread," concluded expert Stein, "neighboring countries must realize that it is foolish to breed it, because tomorrow it will be at their house."
