Rochester, Maine. - Embattled Rep. Ilhan Omar's older sister, Dee Min, who is currently on a book tour promoting her memoir of life as a Somali immigrant, canceled a planned event amid the aftermath of the raid on the congressman's home.
As Omar faces a federal investigation related to potential immigration fraud, as well as a separate investigation into his financial disclosures, Sahra Noor was scheduled to hold a book tour Thursday night at the University of Minnesota Rochester.
Noor, who came to the United States as a refugee with Omar and other family members in the 1990s, was reportedly subpoenaed in connection with an immigration investigation of his sister. He currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya, according to his LinkedIn page, but is on a world book tour to promote his recently released book, "Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant's Story."

He also described Noor as a "poet, storyteller and leader of the health system" and said that this book is "a story of migration, motherhood, grief and family".
According to the Noor website, his book was officially launched during an event at a Nairobi bookstore on August 13, 2026. In early September, he appeared at a festival in Cape Town, South Africa to promote his work.
