Blood of Dawnwalker update 1.1 adds directional animal petting and over 1100 other improvements and fixes.

Rebel Wolves really showed off something special with The Blood of Dawnwalker, its vampire RPG where you walk the line between monster and human. Now it's even better with directional animal petting. yes you heard

Similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Dawnwalker's combat uses directional inputs to attack and defend from different angles during combat. Update 1.1, due out next week, will let you take that system and use it to rub the dog like crazy.

"What happens when you combine a directional combat system with the ability to pet dogs and cats?" asked the studio. "Pointed. Animal. Cuddling."

This update also adds a consumable item: Draft of Mind Rebirth. Take a sip and you can honor all your upgrade points and try a different build without restarting the game.

Elsewhere, the game gets a simpler mode for those who can't deal with directional combat, as well as options for larger font sizes for subtitles. Access is always good.

There are also some visual updates coming, such as improved frame generation, better animations and camera movement, improved locking and aiming, and better navigation. The Japanese version of the game has reintroduced all the gore, which is vital for a game about a tribe of human-sized leeches.

Rebel Wolves said there are over 1,100 other improvements in The Blood of Dawnwalker update 1.1. That's a lot, and it shows a certain level of dedication. However, it shouldn't come as a surprise – the former developers of The Witcher see this game as the starting point for an epic RPG series.

The Dawnwalker team has already hinted at where the future might take the series with a CGI trailer featuring Coen's main character in the present day. Perks of being an immortal hybrid, eh? Blood of Dawnwalker crossed 1 million copies in the first two days of sales, indicating that the team will release at least one more game. Whether this brings Coen directly to the present day or to another historical point like Assassin's Creed remains to be seen.
