A sequel to Paul Feig's The Maid will hit the big screen in 2027.

The film began to come together in early 2026 when it was cleared by Lionsgate. From the first film, several faces both in front of and behind the camera will return to reprise their roles in the second film, The Housemaid's Secret.

The film hits theaters on December 17, 2027, exactly two years after the first film arrived in 2025. As Paul Feig told Deadline at the Oscars, production is set to begin this fall.

Yes, the film is now in production, according to the film's Instagram account, which posted a video of the cast arriving on set and reuniting.

Who will be in The House Maid's Secret? Who returns from the first movie?

Sidney Sweeney will play the role of Millie Calloway in the first film, a nanny and housekeeper for Nina Winchester (Amanda Seyfried). Neither Winchester Seyfried nor Brandon Skelnar's Andrew Winchester will appear in the second film, with a fatal ending in The Housemaid (2025). Michel Morrone will reprise his role as Enzo, the gardener.

As for new faces, Kirsten Dunst will star opposite Sweeney as Wendy Garrick for a second time. Paul Anthony Kelly (Love Story) will make his film debut as Douglas Garrick, Wendy's billionaire husband. Brittany Snow has also joined this film in the role of Marybeth.

Stephen Collin of Off Campus fame has been cast as Brock.

Millie Calloway, Sweeney, will take on a new job as a housekeeper for a woman she is never allowed to see. Another locked door threatens to uncover secrets far darker than Millie's. The film will be based on the novel of the same name by Frieda McFadden, which was published in 2023.

Who else is behind the house maid mystery?

Sweeney will also serve as an executive producer. Paul Feig returns to direct from a script by Rebecca Sonnenschein, who adapted The House Maid.

Producers will include Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures, Feig and Laura Fischer of Feig's Pretty Dangerous Pictures, and Carly Alter and Alex Young of Hidden Pictures. Writer McFadden will also serve as executive producer.

The film will be overseen by Lionsgate's Chelsea Kujava, who also oversaw the first film and brought the project to the studio alongside Maria Scanio. Robert Melnick negotiated contracts for the studio.

I loved the book, we read it in my book club, the movie was "good". They completely changed the ending of the movie which was a huge disappointment. But I will see the second movie.
