Daniil Medvedev of Russia Reaches Fourth Round of Shanghai Masters

Medvedev is set to face Stefanos Tsitsipas, the Greek star, in the fourth round.

Shanghai, October 12. /TASS/. Russia's Daniil Medvedev defeated Czech Dalibor Sorsina 6-2, 6-3 in the third round of the ATP tournament in Shanghai, China on Monday.

In the fourth round, Medvedev will face Stephanos Tsitsipas, a unique Greek player.

30-year-old Daniil Medvedev is currently ranked 6th in the world. He has won 24 ATP singles titles, spent 16 weeks as world number one in 2022, and helped Russia win the ATP Cup and Davis Cup in 2021. The top Russian tennis player has reached six Grand Slam finals, won the 2021 US Open and won the ATP Finals title at 220.

24-year-old Dalibor Svrcina is ranked 126th in the ATP. He has not won any ATP Tour titles. Svrcina's best Grand Slam results have been in the second round.

The Shanghai tournament is an ATP Masters 1000 event, with only the Grand Slams and the ATP Finals ranking higher in prestige. The total award is $9.4 million. Monaco's Valentin Wachroot won the title last year. Russian players Nikolai Davydenko (2009) and Medvedev (2019) have also won this tournament.
