North Korean Leader Inspects Missile Capable of Reaching US Territory
The North Korean leader inspected an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching US territory.
The president of North Korea visited the intercontinental ballistic missile that is capable of reaching the US soil.
According to North Korean ambassador Arjan, he visited the defense industry museum of this country, at the same time as the news about Trump's possible meeting with Kim Jong-un, the president of North Korea, where an intercontinental ballistic missile with the ability to reach the American soil was exhibited.
This news was released a day after US President Donald Trump announced the possibility of meeting with the North Korean leader during his planned trip to Asia. Trump is expected to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in China in mid-August.
The pictures of North Korean Ambassador Arjan show that the weapons developed during Kim's leadership, including drones and the Hwasong 20 intercontinental ballistic missile, are displayed in this museum.
In addition, numerous warhead designs and a world map including areas beyond the American land to the Middle East, Australia and South America have been displayed.
Analysts said the museum showcased Kim's broader efforts to upgrade North Korea's weapons as the latest signs of the regime's military achievements.
At the same time, North Korea announced that it had launched a tactical ballistic missile. Pyongyang stated that the purpose of this launch was to confirm the successful tactical update of one of the key components of this missile.
The ambassador of Northern Arjan called this update an important step in improving the performance of all offensive weapon systems.
Meanwhile, at the same time as the tensions between the two Koreas increased, the South Korean military announced: North Korea fired several ballistic missiles from the Pyongyang area towards the eastern waters. This is Pyongyang's fourth missile launch this month.
Pyongyang has conducted more than 10 missile tests since the beginning of the year.
About two weeks ago, North Korea also tested a medium-range hypersonic strategic missile.
This missile was fired from the eastern region of North Korea towards the East Sea of Korea and after traveling a distance of about 1000 kilometers, it hit the designated target.
Kim emphasized the continued strengthening of North Korea's nuclear deterrent, calling it "necessary" to protect the country's national security and stability.
