Cliffhanger and Die Hard 2 filmmaker Harlin most recently directed The Beast with Samuel L. Jackson, the shark thriller Deep Water with Aaron Eckhart and Ben Kingsley, and Lionsgate's horror trilogy The Strangers. "Sidney King's script is a non-stop adrenaline rush," Harlin said today. "It combines an intense, hour-long rescue mission with deep, character-driven stakes. The moment the helicopter goes down, the audience is trapped right there in the yard with our heroes. I've always loved high-octane stories where everyday professionals are thrown into extraordinary, survival-threatening environments."

"We are thrilled to have Renee Harlin direct Evac," added producer Michael Ruccio. He is a true master of cinematic suspense and great action. Sydney has created a brilliant pressure cooker world that balances the politics of prison with the raw power of survival. We are confident that EVAC will be an unforgettable theatrical experience for action fans around the world.
