Hyundai unveiled the new generation compact Bayon crossover at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Contrary to the usual practice among Korean car manufacturers, the second generation Hyundai Bion has gone through an evolutionary process and there is no news of a complete redesign. In general, this generation will enter the market with a more angular design, a longer wheelbase, a more equipped cabin, a set of gasoline and hybrid engines and as a 2027 model.

The new Hyundai Bayon is based on a different interpretation of the Art of Steel design language. Like the new generation Tucson, the body of this crossover also includes a variety of lines and sharp angles and many protrusions. Look anywhere on the body of this small crossover from any angle, and you'll see a wealth of lines and angles. The result of these changes is a more boxy appearance than the previous model. This style is currently more popular than the egg shape of the previous generation. This change of approach is in harmony with the design language of steel art and has given a more determined face to the small Hyundai crossover.

An interesting point is that Hyundai itself does not consider the model unveiled in Paris to be the second generation of the Bion, but rather introduces it as a product beyond a simple update. Therefore, it is not yet clear whether we are facing a generation change or we are dealing with the second facelift of Bion. You may know that the first generation Bayon was introduced in 2021. Three years later and in 2024, Hyundai unveiled the facelifted version of this crossover. Since, according to the usual procedure, after the release of mid-term facelift, production cars enter their new generation, perhaps it is better to consider the current model as the second generation.

One of the most important changes in the new Bion is the increase in the wheelbase. The wheelbase of this car has now reached 2,600 mm; The purpose of this change is to provide more legroom for passengers, especially in the back row. The Bayon 2027 body measures 2,245 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and a maximum height of 1,565 mm. The declared height is related to the case when the car is equipped with roof rails.

Hyundai has not yet specified the exact amount of increase in legroom for rear passengers, but it emphasizes that they will have more space than the previous model. The rear row equipment has also been upgraded and now the passengers benefit from heated seats with the ability to adjust the back angle, central armrests and dedicated air conditioning vents. These changes could make Bayon more suitable for family use; Especially for people who care about the comfort of the rear passengers in addition to the compact dimensions of an urban crossover.

The interior of the new Hyundai Bayon is one of the parts that has experienced the most changes; Two 12.3-inch curved screens are installed on the dashboard, one of which is used to control the entertainment system and the other to display the information needed by the driver. In this crossover, the possibility of wireless mobile phone connection is provided and users can use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without a wire connection. To improve the quality of the listening experience, Hyundai has prepared a Bose sound system with eight speakers. A panoramic sunroof and heated and ventilated front seats are among the other features.

The N Line version of the new Bayon comes with a set of exterior changes, including 18-inch wheels and a black roof. In the lower part of the front bumper of this version, special aerodynamic parts can be seen. In the rear view, a special diffuser is integrated with two exhaust outlets to make the car look more sporty. The cabin of this version is decorated with fabric and artificial suede seats.

At the beginning of the launch of the new Bayon, Hyundai will provide buyers with two one-liter gasoline engines. These two engines are the same in terms of volume, but produce different power. In the basic version, the available engine has a maximum power of 80 horsepower. But in the more powerful version, the engine output has increased to 113 horsepower. Regardless of the engine output, this crossover can be ordered with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed gearbox with two DCT clutches.

In the future, in 2027, the Bayon hybrid version will be added to the family of this car. This version uses a 1.6-liter GDI gasoline engine, an electric motor, and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The total engine output of this version is equal to 136 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. With these specifications, the hybrid version will play the role of the flagship model of the Bayon family. One of the features of this version is the use of brake energy recovery system with adaptive function. When slowing down, this technology can convert part of the kinetic energy into electrical energy and charge the battery.

The official price of the new generation of Hyundai Bayon is currently unknown; There is no word on the exact time of its entry into the market. The current version of this crossover is available in the European market with a base price of around 16,000 euros. Therefore, we can expect a similar figure with a slight increase for the new generation. As before, the main market of the new Bayon will be Europe; Because there is still no plan to release this car in the United States. It is interesting to know that this crossover is assembled in Iran's neighborhood and in Turkey.

Needless to say, in addition to the Bayon, Hyundai has unveiled the N Line version of the new generation Tucson at the Paris Motor Show.
