Nearly two decades ago, a young student wrote his final thesis on software capable of generating design documents for school buildings. Eldrums studied architecture—following in the footsteps of his parents and grandfather—but it was technology that really fascinated him.

There was just one problem: the technology he needed didn't exist yet.

"Then came ChatGPT," Drums said.

His old idea suddenly seemed very possible. Within six months, he launched Blueprints AI, a startup that uses artificial intelligence to generate code-compliant, permit-ready architectural drawings in minutes from a 2D blueprint or PDF.

Blueprints AI, which Drams formally incorporated in Santa Monica in 2025 with co-founder Coco Kao, has been selected for the 2026 Battlefield 200 Startups, a group of promising early-stage startups that have been able to showcase at this year's TechCrunch Expo, from October 13 to October 1. Francisco

Over the past 20 years, Dermoz has been working on Blueprints AI, earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture from the University of Tehran and completing a two-year Ph.D. course in digital design at the European Graduate School in Switzerland. He moved to the United States and opened an architecture firm called Drams Architects in 2018. He then added a construction business in 2021 after obtaining a general contracting license.

The drama had to be fulfilled. he was not

"I was like, well, maybe I can build new projects that will change people's lives in that area, but it won't have a big impact," he said. "What excites me most about technology is the impact, the hours saved, the energy saved of people doing the same thing over and over again."

Artificial intelligence Blueprints will unveil a more powerful second-generation version of its software at Disrupt. Drams and Cao say it will have a big impact because it takes over the repetitive drafting work that fills most of an architect's day.

"It creates better spaces for people because now architects have time to design," Drums said. Architects spend about 80 percent of their time designing and only 20 percent designing, he said. "I want to make it 20-80."

Drums and Cao met several years ago at an artificial intelligence conference and combined their skills to build the company. Cao, a data scientist from Hong Kong, manages sales strategy and go-to-market as chief commercial officer.

The pair trained their models using the eight-year-old certified design suite from design and manufacturing company Drams, which is still in operation.

Its first-generation software generates architectural construction documents and costs between $3,200 and $8,500 per month, depending on the program. Custom pricing is also available for companies.

The second generation software of this startup will provide a significant upgrade. Clients can start with a description or sketch of a project and simultaneously create a plan for every aspect of the building, including architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and interior design. Version 2 allows users to design and make changes to the project, which is an improvement over the first iteration. Importantly, a design change updates the entire project and is checked against local building codes.

Early customers are already using the second version, and Drams said it will be available to the public this week. The startup is currently working on the third version of its software, which adds structural analysis and switchboard design.

According to the founders, the technology does not replace licensed architects. Licensed professionals still review and stamp documents before submitting them for licensing. They say that human judgment remains.

Artificial intelligence Blueprints has targeted two groups with its new software. Professional architecture, engineering, and design firms make up one group, while developers and real estate owners make up another. The startup offers its software as a subscription and may add a one-time fixed fee option for those who just want it for one project.
