Russia Pushes Energy Cooperation with Africa

Roman Ambarov, Russia's ambassador to South Africa and Lesotho, stressed that reliable and affordable energy is the foundation of industrial development, economic sovereignty and job creation in Africa.

Cape Town, October 15. /TASS/. Russian Ambassador to South Africa and Lesotho, Roman Ambarov, said at the Russia-Africa Investment Conference held during Africa Energy Week in Cape Town: Russia is interested in energy cooperation with African countries based on the national interests of the involved parties.

The Russian ambassador said: "Russia is ready to cooperate with African countries, provide energy solutions with their national priorities, strengthen energy security and facilitate sustainable industrial development." Ambarov noted: "Energy cooperation should be practical, long-term and mutually beneficial. It should not be limited to the sale of equipment or the supply of fuel. This cooperation should include technologies, engineering competencies, localization of production, as well as education and training of national human resources."

The ambassador emphasized: reliable and affordable energy is the basis of industrial development, economic governance and job creation in Africa. "The task is not to choose a particular technology driven by ideological considerations. The task is to create a system that works efficiently," he added.
