Starlink restrictions in Ukraine will seriously hurt Ukrainian forces - newspaper

The Daily Telegraph added that Ukraine's situation could worsen due to the possible suspension of information exchange with Washington

London, October 15. /TASS/. According to the Daily Telegraph, the limitations of the Starlink satellite communication system in Ukraine have rendered a significant part of the UAV arsenal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces unusable.

Pilots noticed sudden gaps of 10 to 20 seconds in their communications with the speeding aircraft. A Ukrainian soldier said the changes "directly affect the use of drones that use Starlink for in-flight control." According to this publication, some missions had to be canceled.

A Ukrainian engineer working on managing Starlink systems told the newspaper that on Tuesday evening, soldiers of the Ukrainian army's 3rd Corps made "desperate pleas for help" amid sudden communications problems.

The situation in Ukraine could worsen due to the possible suspension of information exchange with Washington, which would deprive Kiev of any opportunity to counter attacks by Russian armed forces, the Telegraph noted.

Earlier, Sergei Beskrestnov, Vladimir Zelensky's adviser on communications and unmanned systems, reported that SpaceX had limited the speed of Starlink satellite internet terminals used by the Ukrainian military to 160 kilometers per hour. According to him, this disrupted "a number of operations".

Later, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said that the Starlink system would not be used for offensive combat operations, but only for defensive and civilian purposes.
