On the fourth day of Brand's rape trial at London's Southwark Crown Court, jurors were shown footage of a 2023 police interview with an alleged victim. The woman has a lifetime right to anonymity - the deadline refers to her as Complainant 1 (C1) - although she is named in court proceedings. During the video interview, C1 claimed she was sexually assaulted by Brand, now 51, after meeting him on the sidelines of a Labor conference in Bournemouth in 1999. This woman was allegedly in her twenties at the time of the incident. Watch on Deadline

The pair had a chat after she was 'playful' and pulled her ponytail. The woman recalled that Brand was "polite, polite, attentive" and "childish" during their interaction. She assumed he was gay and said she was not physically attracted to him.

He went to a cabaret event where Brand was performing, and after the show, he offered to go back to her hotel room because she didn't want to go to a bar or club. "He was such a gentleman ... I didn't think he would try that on me," she said.

When she got back to the hotel, the woman said she remembers going to the toilet and coming back to find Brand in a pair of shorts, "being silly". The woman claimed that the brand asked her to take pictures of her, during which she claimed that she was visibly aroused. "I could see he was getting tough," she said during a police interview in court.

C1 alleged that Brand pushed her on the bed, pulled down her pants and underwear and raped her. The woman repeatedly told police she remembered his weight and he tried to put his fingers in her mouth. C1, who became visibly emotional during his 2023 interview, claimed that he "pushed and pushed" until he ejaculated.

"I know I said, 'No,'" he told police. "I went out of my head." She continued: "I wanted him to finish quickly ... and get out of me. He was making lots of noises of pleasure and saying how beautiful I was."

After the alleged incident, C1 claimed Brand told her she was being "tested regularly" for STDs. He remembered saying he had to leave to "get back to his mom" and jotting down his email address before leaving the hotel room. “He tried to kiss me as he was leaving,” C1 said.

"He made me feel dirty. [I felt] it was my fault," she told detectives. "I know I was crying, I felt stupid." C1 said she did not report the alleged incident at the time and said she was worried authorities would say "what did you expect?" after inviting her to the hotel.

C1 came to the police after watching the 2023 Channel 4 documentary Brand Russell: In Plain Sight. "I feel like I came forward now and not before," he told detectives.

Brand, a comedian and MAGA influencer, is facing three counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault based on allegations made by six women. Brand has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

During evidence on Wednesday, attorney Reil Carmi Jones described Brand as "charming," "brutal" and "calculating" in his efforts to satisfy his hunger for sexual activity. Carmi Jones has emphasized that none of the women who came forward know each other.

Brand will present his defense later in court. The court was told Brand repeatedly refused to answer questions when interviewed by police. He instead relied on a prepared statement, in which he claimed he did not remember meeting the women and did not remember their names. He said any sexual contact was consensual.
